These mirrors are very direct and raw pieces for me. I understand that there is something unsophisticated about them, but to me they celebrate the deep satisfaction of following the universally base instincts of being drawn to shiny things and of contemplating one’s own reflection. To make them, I have altered mirrors, laboriously scratching off the silver in places, applying paint to both sides of the glass, and applying layers of paper, aluminum foil, and other materials.
