My Love is in the Air series is an ongoing body of work started in 1993 with the lofty mission of covering the whole sky with the words “and I will always love you”. The drawings use stock and mass-produced images of beautiful skies found on post cards, posters, placards, and pages from in flight and tourist magazines as a background for the words written repeatedly in pen. Some pieces use a patchwork background of collaged sky images all taken from the same magazine. By using Dolly Parton song lyrics and arguably trite images of blue skies, clouds, and sunsets–all common images and materials found, not created, by me–I hope to illustrate how even popular song lyrics and pretty pictures on cheap paper can express real personal emotions and convey serious art ideas.
